The old way of spelling--when Nick died--was with a "v", but the current Gustafson family uses an "f". Also, it may be that Nick is a great-great uncle or great great grand uncle? -Del's grampa Ernst was Nick's nephew, so I think I left off a grand or two, and I can't quite get the relation right. Del Gustavson is the grand nephew of Nicholas--alas, poor Nicholas died without a wife, without family by his bedside, nor did the family claim his body and bury him in the family plot--they left him in an unmarked grave. It is only late years that the grave was marked. There are some interesting mysteries surrounding the graves of the robbers (Bill Stiles and Clel Miller) and Nicholas Gustavson.
