Wigley house sold; Peter and Jesse will soon be here

We closed on our house today. Peter Seebach (‘seebs’) and Jesse Hajicek (pronounced ‘high check’) bought our house at 1016 Linden St. So.

They used John Ophaug as their attorney at closing. We used Lance Heisler. It was a celebration.

I asked Peter how he found the house and what they thought of the Wigley House 4 sale blog:

What happened was, we hit Google for “northfield mn real estate” or something similar, found an MLS page with a couple of houses we liked, and I kept saying “I dunno, the Linden street one looks really cool”. Anyway, then I did another search with different terms, and the blog came up, and I looked at it — and immediately IMd my spouse to say “hey, look, there’s a blog for that Linden Street house”.

20:21:39 – Woah, they have a blog!
20:28:15 – I’m sold.
20:28:22 – They love that place, and everything got redone in 2006.
20:28:35 – I have written a polite email asking whether we could come have a look at it tomorrow.

We were already leaning towards “the Linden place” a bit, but the blog was absolutely the hook. We then went out to Perkins to sit around worrying that you’d already sold it.

Peter’s an Ole grad and his mother, Linda Seebach, moved into Mill Stream Commons this summer. I blogged about her and her blog last month. For those of you who follow the comments here on Locally Grown, you may have noticed Peter chiming in on occasion since earlier this summer.

We’ve rented a townhouse on Heritage Drive on a month-to-month basis while we wait to see what happens with The Crossing (see posts here, here, and here.)

Peter and Jesse will be moving in over the next two weeks so it may be a little bit before they start hanging out at local coffeehouses and watering holes. In the meantime, please join me in welcoming them to Northfield.

  1. Also interested (but not pictured) are our roommates, Luka and Rah. Ironically, the largest chunk of work I have to do for the move is shipping a ludicrous number of electrons to Texas.

  2. I’d consider it, but frankly, this stuff is well past its use-by date; its best economic value would be as reclaimed copper.

I might have more spares in a bit once I’ve done more shuffling of the remaining hardware, though.

Griff–that pic is from the early stages of the tech graveyard. Here’s a pic of how it ended up looking toward the end.

  4. My fiancee and I just came by Jesse and Peter’s house this weekend. It is easily the most beautiful place they’ve ever lived in my fifteen years of being their friend. Northfield is also quite lovely. Jesse, you’re a lucky dog. Love you both.

Thanks, Leslie. Yep, they’re both lucky dogs. Now, what’s it gonna take to get you and your fiancee to move here?
