Good eye, Dan. We caught that one, too. I agree that was great coverage, as well, but I wouldn't describe the scene as "packed with grandmothers, fifth-graders and members of a hockey moms book club." Made it sound kinda hokey. (Guess I'm being a bit sensitive, since I was there in the audience!)

Anyway, I'd better stop posting before I'm reprimanded for not supplying an gravatar.

Hey you two,

Not one appearance in the Sunday paper for Carleton and Northfield, but two. The above the fold Kevin Kling story on page one of the A section begins, "The Great Hall at Carleton College is packed with grandmothers, fifth-graders and members of a hockey moms book club." Mr. Kling's first book was chosen for the fall 2007 Northfield Reads! community book club and he did a reading on campus for hundreds of fans. Its great that the reporter was on hand for the event and chose to include the reference in his piece.

Thanks, Ross.
This is, indeed, a not-to-be-missed exhibit. And we've been quite pleased with the media attention it's received (MPR did a big feature story, too).

In addition to the display in the Carleton Art Gallery, there are a series of upcoming presentations hosted by some of the featured artists (also free and open to the public).

On Thursday, Jan. 31, Michigan-based furniture maker Clifton Monteith -- known for his exquisite work with woven willow -- will speak about his work from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Boliou Hall Auditorium. And on Tuesday, Feb. 12, there will be a panel discussion by some of the featured artists (yet to be named) about the process of taking a piece from the design stage to actual production. This will be 7 p.m., also in the Boliou Hall Auditorium.

As always, go to www.carleton.edu/news and then click on the "calendar of events" link for more information and to learn more about other events on campus. (And while you're there, sign up for our new enewsletter, Intersections).

Isn't it great living in a college town?!?
