No ebooks for sale; however…

The Northfield Hospital Auxiliary is having its 47th annual book sale (AKA “The Great Northfield, Minnesota Book Raid”) this week at the Northfield Ice Arena. At the prompting of Scott Richardson, Northfield Hospital’s communications guy, I paid a visit on Saturday to check on the preparations.

Where is the lady who volunteers and works tirelessly for the NHA? and at the Garden Club and so on and so forth, with never a complaint or uneven tone? Marilyn Hill, that’s who I am talking about right now. Thank you, Marilyn.

Donating six boxes of books = room for more books!

How crazy does opening night of the Book Raid get? Do we need to get there early to beat the collectors/store owners in the door?

It gets pretty busy and stays that way, as far as I have been able to ascertain.
Maybe if you throw some salt over your shoulders, you’ll have good luck. :)

Also, I just read a comment at digg.com where they advocated insulating the outside walls of your home (from the inside) with books and shelves. Nice and just in time for the sale and Earth Day.

Insulation…. that’s the reason the back wall of our basement is covered with books. Yep. Really.

Time to go patch up that hole we just created, huh?
