Cranes ready for Mill Towns Trail bridge placement on Monday Tuesday

It should be quite a show on Monday when the Mill Towns Trail bridge gets put in place over the Cannon. The two cranes on the east side of the river will lift the two sections (now welded together) while the crane on the west side will lift a single section. What happens then? Steelworkers climb out and bolt them together with some of those infamous gusset plates, I’m guessing. Piece o’ cake. What could happen?

With all of the rain we have had, the bridge and the cranes are now in the middle of a VERY LARGE puddle.

It will be interesting on Monday.

John, yep, there’s a huge puddle there. Here’s a photo from 6 am this morning. But it doesn’t surround the base of the cranes so I’m guessing they’ll proceed, given the per diem expense of having those cranes onsite.

Oh Griff, you have such a gift with language. I have a book it sounds like you might need. Of course there is a Kindle version but, my print edition is 40% less expensive. I’m not sure, but would your kindle version contain the color photos that are in the print edition? You’ll want to see these in color.

    Let everyone know the truth.

Rick and I were, in fact, speculating that Peggy Prowe was going to ride the little crane car over the center of the river and then break a champagne bottle (made out of bio-degradable materials, of course) over the joined bridge sections.

The bridge was put in place about 10 minutes ago. I’ll have photos later this morning.
