I drove by the old Tires Plus site at 6th and Division yesterday and saw a Xmas tree tied to the light pole with Xmas lights strung up the pole. Looks like former Mayor Lee Lansing is preparing to sell Xmas trees at the location.
The site/business was a focus of controversy last November and again last May. Is everything copacetic this time around with the City and the building owner (Jerry Anderson or Voyager Bank?)

Yeah, “heeee’s back” and the reports of City Staff calling the Voyageur Bank are back, too.
Jerry Anderson went through an authorization process with the Planning Commission; this business arrangement with Lansing is not a surprise… so……
What’s with the “City” calling the Bank to see if they are OK with the arrangement? How long is this charade going to go on?
If one more “City” staff member mentions “business friendly” within my hearing, there’s going to be a hard question asked.
Kiffi, I don’t expect the bad blood between Lee and various city staffers to go away anytime soon. So I don’t think it helps to play the ‘anti-business friendly’ card in this case.
Griff: Do you think it is appropriate for the city staff to call the bank when the arrangement on that property has been made clear in a public venue, i.e. Jerry Anderson’s appearance at the Planning Commission?
Kiffi, does Jerry actually now have title on the property, free and clear? I thought there was still a property line dispute that was holding things up. If the bank still owns the property, then I don’t see a problem with city staff checking with the bank since they objected last spring.
Griff: ask Jerry… he appeared before the planning commission to clarify the use issues, but I do not think that necessarily means he has a “clear” title ; in fact the last I heard the property line issue is still not resolved.
But Griff, does the “bad blood” you refer to above justify bad behavior?
I know we could both think of several instances of “bad blood”, but I do not think we hire city employees to “aggress” against citizens on their own initiative, that is without a demonstrable violation.
