Sinclair to appear before city commission for crude poster

photo of Nick SinclairArt show poster Nick Sinclair, owner of Sinclair Hotrods and co-owner of Grezzo Gallery, will appear before an emergency meeting of the Northfield Profanities Commission at 11 am on Friday.

He will be asked to respond to numerous citizen complaints about this poster (left, click to enlarge; caution advised) that has been appearing on windows and bulletin boards around town, promoting his upcoming Lowbrow – High Octane art show that launches with a car cruise from Lakeville to Northfield this Sat, Sept 1.

Phrases on the poster that prompted the complaints:
<profanity>

  • Get your shit striped by Relic Designs
  • Lay some f’n rubber all the way to Northfield – rubber left on pavement required!
  • To get directions to the gallery or to see naked ladies visit…
  • Do not miss this F&#%**N show or I’ll tell your girlfriend I saw you driving a Subaru.

</profanity>
Chair of the commission, Bette Yeras, said in a prepared statement that the poster was inappropriate. “It’s in poor taste at best and downright dangerous at worst. It reflects poorly on Northfield. Most members of the Northfield Arts and Culture Commission have been out of town the past week at Sturgis but I’m sure they’d be shocked to know that this poster was all over town.”

Dick Tease, president of the Northfield Subaru Owners Club, also found the poster objectionable. “My gosh, to imply that Subaru owners are somehow not cool or manly is a real insult to our members. I could understand it if he said ‘Buick,’ no offense to the all the geezers in town. But we have one member who owns a WRX which is a very fast car, for heaven’s sakes.”

So we have a male Member of the NF Subaru Owners Club, whose name is Dick Tease?

Ok , Mr. Faux News, do you want to explain all the possible sexual connotations/combinations/possibilities of that Male moniker?

Should take you a while………Actually , it might be funnier if Brendon Etter followed up on this theme.

    The poster pales……….

Hey, Kiffi, why are you focused on Mr. Tease? Why not Ms. Yeras?

I guess because “Yeras” sounded Greek to me, and I was wary of possibly MORE Greek pizza, when that is so prevalent now……………….not that i don”t like Greek pizza, too.

I’m sorry, but this is pretty funny to think that this is my mentor. No joke. I really could care less though, I definitely realize that he’s not trying to get the attention of the older, conservative crowd… well…maybe…
I’m pretty proud to say that he’s my mentor.
(and DICK TEASE!?!?! Way to go Griff!)

Griff- You really went over the top on this one! What a great blog! Arts & culture commission in Sturgis!! That’s great! Keep up the good work. We could use a little humor in this town right now. By the way, has the Volvo Owners’ club contacted you demanding equal time, yet?

Griff: Maybe you could contact Bette Yeras to see if she could make a post to this discussion. I would be very interested to hear more from her.

  7. I had no idea that my posters and show would create such a bad reaction to this wonderful town we call Northfield. I would like to apologize for my lack of judgment in the promotional materials. I would especially like to apologize to the Subaru club… the dog in their back seat… their girlfriends… who don’t shave their legs… or pits. I would like to hold a special show and cruise for you at Viking Auto Salvage next week, the VW club is also invited. I have also decided to change the name of my show to: “love flowers and peaceful city streets of bliss”. Of course we will have a protest, around noon on Saturday to promote the new name. One more thing….. I announce my distaste for all v-8 engines and SUVs.. The bikers who blow through stop signs are my heros, They are the soldiers on the front lines of a non petroleum society. And last, but not least, I will hold an apology prayer vigil at City Hall, sanctioned by George Bush.

    See ya all on Saturday!

I heard that the Law Firm of Dixon, Cox, & Peters has been asked to represent the Northfield Subaru Owners Club in this matter.

Ms. Stanton (forgive my formality, but I’m not comfortable using the first names of people I don’t know), I have been monitoring this conversation, so I appreciate the invitation to further state my opinion on this matter. It’s a courtesy not often extended to people of my generation.

Mr. Sinclair, I’ve read your comment above several times and I must say, I doubt the sincerity of your apology. I dearly hope you can find a way to see the light in time for your appearance on Friday before our commission.

Although our Commission does not have any authority to impose sanctions, we have other means by which behavior can be adjusted.

For example, I’ve spoken to your dear mother who, needless to say, is quite upset by your actions, especially after all she’s been through with you. A very difficult childhood indeed, and one that apparently is not quite over.

Your mother, holding back tears, showed me your school records, going all the way back to kindergarten. A tell-tale comment from your year-end kindergarten report card by a Mrs. Florence Jefferson: “Picks nose and eats it. Nicholas may not be college material.” There’s more like that, much more, but common decency forbids me to go on.

From the bottom of my heart, I hope this is enough to change your attitude.

If not, we’ll see about having your left testicle removed.

    Have a nice evening.

Hey post # 7………….. if there’s a prayer vigil at City Hall, I think the Top “Sanctioner” would have to be Al Roder…………at least until there’s a POLICY!

    Get with the picture, Man!

Ms Yeras: Thank you for entering this conversation. You seem like a very “sweet” woman. Do you ever take 16 year old boys off their parents hands for a few days or give parenting tips?

Have tomato farmers entered the fuel business too? I thought it was just the corn farmers.

    Dear MS Yeras.
I know you are full of s%#@,(which might fuel a car) because she has been in Las Vegas since this post started. And I still pick my nose. I will not report to the Commission, but I will state a comment on the radio Friday morning around 9 am., KYMN.
Thank you. Have a nice day.
Where is Mr Tease on this subject?

    PRESS RELEASE:

NBR (Northfield’s Bike Reich) announces a protest to be held Saturday, September 1st at 5 pm at the Grezzo Gallery.

Members of NBR will block the doors to the gallery, lining up bike wheel to bike wheel, spandex shorts to spandex shorts. Our weapon: stern looks of sanctimonious disapproval. Please join us!

NBR’s next demonstration is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 1 pm at Bridge Square where we will express our solidarity with “HUH?” (Heroin Users Helping Themselves). HUH is protesting the use of door locks and alarm systems in Northfield’s homes and businesses. This use unfairly “profiles” heroin users, and subjects them to needless inconvenience.
