8th Annual Tour de Nick to be held on August 6th.
Join the Cannon Valley Velo Club and SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education) for the 8th annual Tour de Nick bicycle tour through beautiful Rice and Goodhue counties east of Northfield, Minnesota. Proceeds from the ride will support SAVE and the leadership role they provide in developing programs focused on the prevention of suicide. The Tour was started by the Northfield Bike Club after they lost their friend and fellow cyclist Nick, to suicide in 2003. It has grown into an annual event attracting riders, friends and families from across southern Minnesota to ride and remember.
There are several routes available for everyone from families to the serious rider. Choose from three ride lengths, 10, 20 and 50 miles; the 10-mile route is perfect for the casual rider. The 20-mile route will offer a bit more distance while the 50-mile route will offer challenging hills and beautiful vistas.

The ride begins in the parking lot of Mikes Bicycles at 9 a.m. Riders of all abilities make their way out of town in a mile of silent tribute to those who have lost their lives to suicide and each route will have a designated ride leader / sweeper to make sure everyone gets off the road safely.
Donations are encouraged and accepted and the first $1500 dollars are matched dollar for dollar. This is an unsupported ride so please be prepared with water and food. There are places to stop on the route and a support vehicle will patrol the course during the ride. Visit http://www.save.org or http://www.northfieldbikeclub.org or https://sites.google.com/site/cannonvalleyveloclub/tour-de-nick for more details and photos from past rides.

  5. I have discovered Electric Golf Carts and think they are a great way to get around without polluting up the local environment, especially for the elderly, handicap and people with kids who live nearby, but too far to walk, etc.

They can be a new industry maker, too, because people love to customize them. They are not very costly to run and are very easy to recharge and quite durable. Electric cart only streets can be designed and more creative ideas can be manifested to suit.

Lots of communities are using these now. Northfield, are you gonna be the last!
