At 11 am this morning, our colleagues at By All Means Graphics (BAMG) will begin distribution of the print edition of the Feb. issue of the Northfield Entertainment Guide (NEG).
It contains the long-awaited announcement of the winners and runners-up of the Best of Northfield 2008 (4 page PDF excerpt). The intro text reads:
We put it out there and you picked up the bait. Here are the results of the Northfield Entertainment Guide and Locally Grown readers poll of the Best of Northfield. Hundreds of ballots, more nominees than you can shake a stick at and one hands-down winner – that would be you for having such great stuff to choose from right here in River City! Now take a gander at our readers’ picks and get out there and enjoy! And make mental notes for January 2009 when we’ll do it again. Congratulations!
BAMG head honcho Rob Schanilec will be on KYMN 1080 AM radio at 12:30 pm today to announce and discuss the results… but you read it here first, of course, as we were partners with the NEG on this project.
I plan to have some photos later today.
In the meantime, feel free to discuss the results here. Moderate levels of gloating and whining will be tolerated.

I’m pleased that Locally Grown won best blog but what happened to the category for ‘Best faux news blogger’? That’s the one I really wanted.
Griff, you had no competition, so won that category hands down.
This is nice, but I think it was still narrowly focused, and It would be interesting to widen its categories next year.
Also, all of the voting boxes were in the places that were voted #1, and not present some places that were in the top 3…
It is a great marketing concept however… and good for Northfield.
Congratulations to the RARE PAIR- Not a surprise, but still what a great store, eh? I wear my BORN shoes (various rare and pretty pairs) everyday in the classroom and can’t believe how alive my feet are at the end of the day. Everytime I wear a Dale sweater purchased there I am complimented on my taste. Gosh, do I love 3rd Thursdays!!! Congratulations to all the winners….Division street just plain rocks.

YEAH CO-OP! John’s right; I’m pretty sure I didn’t see a ballot box in Cub or Econofoods, and did see one in the Co-Op, but I think it’s still really cool to work for the store that was voted #1 groceries in Northfield. Locally Grown indeed!
