  1. Thank you to Ross and all the others who helped. I appreciated the event very much. It was a great time downtown!

(One question: Can we get recycling at these events? I didn’t see any recycling containers anywhere, but maybe I missed them. I would like to see it for all community events.)

Regardless, I thank you all for the work and the fun that work engendered.

I agree on both counts — absolutely fabulous event (kudos to the entire crew) and, yes, recycling should take place. Over in the beer/wine tent we were “saving” our glass and plastic bottles in empty boxes but I’m not sure if they ended up being recycled or not. Hopefully so. There were many people looking for an opportunity to recycle. Good to know folks automatically think to do so. I hope that growing the event to be as “green” as possible will be a high priority in the coming years (ditto for DJJD).

As I was leaving Bridge Square late last night, I must admit I was very impressed at how “tidy” the site already looked. Great job by the clean-up crew!

And I also want to thank all the folks that helped out in the beer/wine tent (y’all know who you are!) — I so very much appreciate your willingness to jump in, help out, and have fun. Thank you again!

    Jessica –

Your efforts were not in vain. I know that Steve DeLong of the Northfield Liquor Store and Joe Grundhoefer of the NDDC were working together on the recycling during the break-down of the beer tent.

Thanks to you and all the other volunteers for all your help at the event. It was truly a special night.

  5. Marilyn Sellars, the wonderful songbird of Dundas, joined me here from Edina for Taste of Northfield and after I sent her the link to Griff’s pictures, she said the pictures reminded her of “what the movies picture as the quintessential bucolic All-American perfect place to live.” She said the slide show could be used in many a commercial. So it seems you have a future in advertising, Griff. Thanks for taking the photos.

As someone who gets a glimpse of all that goes on “behind the scenes,” I know who MUCH work went into the event by so many people. Things like this are why I love living in Northfield.

I loved the wine/beer tent over the river. What a perfect location.

I wish some of those picnic tables could stay downtown past the event. I think they could be a welcome addition all summer.

Thank you to all of the people who made it happen.

Sarah, I’m glad you gave Ross that smooch on the bridge at 8 pm or so. His batteries were running low at that point and you recharged them for the rest of the evening.
