No doubt -- Gospel Gossip is one of 15 college bands selected nationwide to perform at this year's first annual New American Music Union Festival in Pittsburgh, PA (August 8-9), "curated" by Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Headlining the event are bands like Gnarls Barkley, The Black Keys, The Raconteurs, and Minnesota's own Bob Dylan. The college bands will be judged by music industry execs for a chance to win a full-day recording session in an L.A. studio. Very cool and a great opportunity for the band.

So bummed that I will be out of town and won't get to see Gospel Gossip on Saturday. Get out to see them, Northfield, before they hit it big. Seriously.

Yeah, after two years of trying to convince Tracy and Griff to send me to Austin to cover SXSW for Locally Grown, I'm refocused my hopes and energies on Junebug.

I'll be the guy wearing cut-off shorts, cowboy boots and no shirt, sipping something from the Spoetzl brewery and singing songs from "Viva Terlingua!" from the east bank of the Cannon.
