Northfielder Sean Code sent me 16 photos today for “a look at the local terrain in Afghanistan.” Here are three (click to enlarge). See this album for the rest.

Back on Jan. 24, Sean joined the conversation in this blog post titled Local connections to servicemen and women in Iraq and Afghanistan with this comment:

I’m sitting in Northeast Afghanistan on the night shift (1:45 a.m., 10.5 hours ahead of Northfield time). Things are quiet, expecting 6-7″ of snow in the valley.

I’m hoping Sean can, without divulging too much, give us some details about the photos and his current assignment.

In the meantime, for those of you who know him — and those who wish you did, like me — feel free to attach a greeting or comment here.

Sean, You are the first person from Northfield that I know of who is fighting the war. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you and your fellow members do. My thoughts and prayers are with you daily. God Bless.

Quite a view, Sean. Thanks for everything you do both over there and over here. I, too, think often of the mission you are on and try in my way to help people understand how important it is that we do this difficult thing. I salute you.

    Hi Sean,
We just viewed your pictures of Afganistan. We were surprised to see them and even more surprised that a greeting could be sent to you; so here goes.
Mary Kay and I hope all is well with you. We hope you have a productive and safe tour.We also hope your family will be able to carry on in your absense. That must be the most difficult part.
We thank you for serving for our benefit!

Hey, might that be Doug “puppet” Peterson, former counselor for the Northfield schools?
