Mr. Movies franchise closing this weekend

Northfield Mr. Movies

I saw this story on the Nfld News web site posted on Wed. afternoon: Mr. Movies to close.

“It just didn’t develop to where it needed to be to make it a profitable location,” said Jim Cramer, director of store operations for Mr. Movies, whose corporate offices are located in Minneapolis. Along with a lack of business, the owner is looking to retire.

Who is the franchise owner?

    John S. Thomas says:

I had a conversation with the manager Thursday night. (there were some good PS2 games at good prices.)

He stated to me that much of the issue is the increase in rents next year by the landlord, which will not make the store continue to be viable.

They are liquidating, closing, and have already taken some of the inventory to their Lakeville location.
