Meredith Fierke, media maven

Northfield’s Meredith Fierke is getting more than a little attention from the Twin Cities media lately.

Back when she was just a kid (early 2007), I took this photo of her with some hot rodder at a Mardi Gras party at the Rueb.

    Griff,
Meredith did not perform live on Cities 97. She just had one of her songs played. She will however be in studio on Cities 97 on Sunday, Jan 11. That will be a Studio C session.

Me bad. Misinterpreted a text I rec’d from Meredith. Sorry about the confusion, Griff. Yes, KTCZ has been playing her music — yee haw! Very exciting, indeed, as is the upcoming live Studio C performance (which will, perhaps, one day find itself on the 2009 Cities 97 Sampler?!? Let’s collectively cross our fingers!). Good luck, Meredith. We’re all very happy for you.

Well-deserved attention, indeed, for a local treasure! Those of us who have been following Meredith’s rising star since her high school years are not surprised by her success. But, given how difficult it is to get to this point in the music business, we applaud her determination and commitment and recognize the hard work it took her to get there. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of these achievements. Meredith is a skilled and passionate performer with a genuine commitment to her diverse audience (young and old, alike, are taken with her!). Her unassuming nature, combined with her immense talent, are sure to impress her ever-widening audiences. Way to go, Meredith!
