Bridgewater Township now has a draft of their Comprehensive Plan; discuss it here

kdn.pngBridgewater Township is ground-zero for the proposed ethanol plant and who knows what else. Last summer, the township board passed a one-year moratorium on development to consider doing its own planning and zoning.

In December, they opted to do just that and they now have till June to come up with a comprehensive plan and accompanying ordinances.

I got an email from Kathleen Doran-Norton, Bridgewater Township supervisor, letting me know that a draft of the Comprehensive Plan was ready and I asked her to draft a blurb to announce it on Locally Grown with an invitation to anyone to discuss it here.

bt_comp_plan_tn.pngThe Bridgewater Township planning commission has been working to complete a comprehensive plan and ordinances before the end of the township moratorium June 28, 2007. At every planning commission meeting I’ve listened in on, folks in attendance have expressed the hope that township citizens become engaged in the process, and will speak up on what is important to them.

The city of Dundas has extended an invitation to township residents to view any of the township’s planning commission documents and files at the Dundas city hall during working hours. We will also put the draft of the comp plan and ordinances on the township website.

Until that gets posted, here is the draft of the comp plan (PDF). I’d welcome your comments on the plan here.

If you’re not a blogger or one who likes to speak up at public meetings, I know the town board and the hard-working members of the planning commission (John Klockeman, Gary Ebling, Chad Marks, Jeff Stremcha, and Larry Alderks) would welcome your letters or emails to them. A public hearing on the plan is tentatively scheduled for May 9. Then, depending on what the planning commission hears from township residents, it may go to a vote mid-May. — Kathleen Doran-Norton, Bridgewater Township supervisor

Soooo, what’s to like and not like about this draft? What questions might people have for the Planning Commission members, Kathleen, or the other supervisors?

Thanks to Kathleen and Griff for providing us with copy of the township Comp Plan here. The first three pages are garbled, but the rest are clear. Can this be fixed?

Stephanie, I’m not seeing a problem with the PDF being garbled. Can you double check? I checked with Ross and it loaded okay for him. Anyone else having a problem with it?

First 3 pages continue to be hieroglyphics (?) and the last 4 are OK. The color picture on page one does come up, though.

Advanced BioEnergy is doing a presentation at the Rice Cty Bd meeting tomorrow Tuesday (April 17) in Faribault, 10 am. We are wondering which commissioner requested it and what’s up. Anyone who has not heard them speak should really try to catch this one. The meeting starts at 8:30 am, generally over by 11 am.
