New stores coming to downtown; rumors unconfirmed

I saw Jim Herreid and Ross Currier in front of the former Bagel Brothers shop this morning and asked them if the rumors were true that Hooters, Victoria’s Secret, and Fantasy Gifts were the new tenants in these three soon-to-be-occupied downtown Northfield storefronts. They both acknowledged to knowing the truth but refused to confirm or deny the rumors.

If you, dear site visitor, know what’s up, attach a comment.

16 Bridge Square (the middle picture) is going to be a Hooters with Fantasy gifts available. I do not know where the Victoria Secrets rumor came from, that’s way off base.

Okay, Nick, that’s good to know. I bet Rob at BAMB will appreciate the increased traffic.

Herb, we rely heavily on rumors here at LG World HQ, as well as on citizens who are skilled at TIC-type reporting.

Well, if you don’t mind undermining the credibility of the site, I suppose that’s okay.

Stick with us, Herb, and I’ll think you’ll gradually get better at discerning when we’re aiming for credibilty and when we’re just having some fun.

Let me just say I am totally opposed to bringing anything to Northfield that will further expose me for the dirty old man I have become.

That’s “tenant” with two, not three, “n”s. The heck with the credibility of the website, let’s pump it for the Locally Grown Spelling Bee Team for next year.

Yeah, Paul Zorn and your fellow Oles, we’re talkin’ ’bout YOU.

As far as the Fantasy Gifts and Victoria’s Secret, I’ll have to check the DSU Downtown Strategies Report on the NDDC website for targeted retailers…

…and I thought the Hooters was going in at 1001 Division Street or was that just a rumor from last year?

I forgot that the spelling police hung out here. FIXED! And yes, Ross, fear of Hooters was mentioned last year by the neighbors who opposed a restaurant at Woodley and Division. But now I’m glad Chapati never moved since I’ll soon be a downtown resident.

Lance, I can understand your reluctance but it’s a selfish position, don’t you think? We’re talkin’ economic development here! Sex sells, I’m told, even in Northfield. “What happens downtown, stays in downtown” should be the new NDDC/Chamber tagline.

Tag lines… I think the motto for Northfield should be “we have a three day weekend”, nothing is open on Monday, however, the new fantasy Hooters will be open 7 days a week. We are in need of a an HR person to help get the new Fantasy Secret Hooters up and running, pass the word along.

Great ideas, Nick. So, um, do you have a website yet for your new venture that you can share with us?

I do, however there is nothing on it yet, so I guess I don’t. There will be something this weekend, I will post!

Okay, Nick thanks. Fantasy Hooters in Northfield, whoda thunk? Good timing, too, as my wife is out of town this weekend.

The square footage required by Hooters and Vic Secrets is much larger than the former Bagel spot has available. Those two subsidaries have the same parent company however, and that parent company often uses those two business names as a front for the niche time-period furniture line they carry: Chippendale. They have learned they get a great deal more free publicity when they post Hooters as the next business, vs. a furniture shop, and they don’t care if it’s negative or positive, just as long as they get it (the publicity, that is.)-C

Ah, sorry about the misspell on “subsidiaries.” Too reliant on the technology of spell-check. I am probably off the Site Spelling Bee for next spring, aren’t I…
