Earth Day Weekend Celebrations

Pogo_Earth_Day.jpg Ah Pogo, and hopefully the Allies R Us too.

Saturday, April 21st and Sunday, April 22nd, will be a weekend of events celebrating our annual recognition of Earth Day.

I haven’t yet found a website to which I can link so I’ll just rattle off what I’ve heard about in terms of events so far.

Saturday: 10 am to 12 pm there’s the Cannon River Clean-up, meet at the parking lot of Highway 19 next to Carleton’s West Gym; 10 am to 11 am, there’s a Nature Tour of the Arb, meet at the same parking lot; 1 pm, there’s a Northfield Sustainability Tour, meet at Bridge Square on your bike or ride the Biodiesel Van and 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm, there’s an Earth Day Contra Dance at Carleton College’s Great Hall.

Sunday (Earth Day): 12:30 pm there’s an Interfaith Earth Service in Central Park; 1:00 pm there’s a Community Potluck at Central Park; 1:30 pm there’s an Earth Day Parade to Bridge Square from Central Park led by Northfield High School; 2:00 pm it’s Sustainability Inspirations and Aspirations with Northfield Mayor Lee Lansing and Carleton College Vice President Fred Rogers speaking on their efforts for sustainability (rumored to be a signing of the Kyoto Treaty) and from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm there will be games, information and music in Bridge Square.

If you can add to this information, please comment on this website. Thanks much and see you there.
