January 8, 2009 – 6:18 am
Our guest this week, fittingly so for the first show of the year, was Mary Rossing, the new mayor of Northfield as of Monday evening.
She’s been on the job for dozens of hours but unfortunately, as you’ll hear, has very few accomplishments she can point to. Recall, anyone?

Our guests this week, Rep. David Bly and Sen. Kevin Dahle, discussing Minnesota’s state budget crisis.
We spent an hour on the topic, so we’ve divided it into two shows. The first half-hour airs today at 5:30 pm and the second half-hour airs next Wed.
Ross did the solo host heavy lifting for the first show, [...]
December 18, 2008 – 10:57 am
Our guest this week was Northfield School District Superintendent Chris Richardson, talking with us about the proposed $2.8 million construction project at Sibley Elementary School.
I blogged about the project on Dec. 10 and Chris’s Powerpoint presentation (PDF) is included in that blog post, so I’ve turned off comments here in favor of continuing any [...]
December 11, 2008 – 8:44 am
Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Nancy Silkey and Rice County Deputy Blaine Smith were our guests yesterday, discussing the MOD Squad project that I blogged about last week. On the right: the Rice County MOD Squad poster (PDF).
(I’ve turned off comments here since the discussion is already happening there.)
What about the fluff? Tracy and [...]
December 4, 2008 – 6:57 am
It was just us co-hosts yesterday, wasting valuable airtime on community fluff before launching into arguments about Tracy’s neighborhood association blog post, followed by a (um) very polite discussion (again) about the liquor store land proposals.

Our guest this week: Erica Zweifel, new Councilor for the City of Northfield in Ward 3. Tracy was out of town.

November 20, 2008 – 7:59 am
Our guest yesterday: Betsey Buckheit, newly elected City of Northfield Councilor for Ward 2… and a blogger.
We discussed the newly approved comprehensive plan with which she has a long history. But most of our time was spent on — you guessed it! – the municipal liquor store and the current controversies surrounding it. See the [...]

No, we weren’t consuming alcoholic beverages in the KYMN studio yesterday while recording our post-election show/podcast.
But you’ll probably think so after listening to us.
Cheers!

We spent the first half of this week’s show discussing the flood of charges from area prosecutors aimed at 1) a group of eight alleged heroin dealers; 2) Mayor Lee Lansing, and 3) Victor Summa.
The rest of the show was devoted to the upcoming Fiber Optic Feasibility Study and the City’s Nov. [...]
October 23, 2008 – 6:58 am
It was just Tracy and I this week, talking mostly about the ongoing discussions that are happening among the candidates here on the Locally Grown blog (see links to the blog posts in the upper right sidebar).
Ross, if you haven’t figured out by now, has his panties in a bunch is preoccupied with prep [...]
October 16, 2008 – 7:12 am
We reconnected with our Locally Grown radio show roots by recording at Carleton’s KRLX 88.1 FM studio yesterday. KRLX station news director Brandon Walker coaxed us back. (Cameron and Morgan will be pleased, no doubt.)
We’ve not abandoned KYMN 1080 AM, however. Our show will air each week on BOTH stations, thus achieving our long-imagined-but-never-stated goal [...]
October 9, 2008 – 9:04 am
Our guest this week: Victor Summa, member of the Northfield Charter Commission and the Northfield Economic Development Authority (EDA).
Ross’ and Tracy’s fluff took up most of the show but we did manage to allow Victor a few minutes.
