Mary Closner was one of many volunteer extraordinaires at this year’s Laura Baker Services Association Gala held back on Dec. 3 (the night of our one and only snowfall) at Carleton College. She was in charge of the silent auction, among other tasks, and twisted the arms of many into helping, including me and my sweetie.
Bridgette Hallcock volunteered her photography services and her photos of the evening are now posted to both her Bridgette Hallcock Photography Facebook page and in a blog post by LBSA’s Jane Fenton. Jane says:
Love these? Please contact our volunteer photographer, at 507-271-3263 for a print. All sizes, tones, canvas mounting available. Part of your purchase comes back to LBSA.
See Jane’s blog post of all the sponsors of the Gala, most of them Northfield organizations and Northfielders.

Thank you to all of those who came to Alexander Park on a beautiful Saturday morning in May to help support Prairie’s Edge Humane Society!
I have placed all of the fun photographs on my Bridgette Hallcock Photography Facebook page so that everyone can see how much fun we had! See the two 2010 Walk for the Animals albums here and here.
If you would like a print, please contact me, as the proceeds will benefit the animals at PEHS.

Do you love animals, but simply cannot bring any more home? Try fostering a litter with the Prairie’s Edge Humane Society.
I had the wonderful opportunity to foster Valerie and her 5 kittens for 6 weeks. It was so much fun! We got to see their eyes open and ears pop up. It was so sweet to watch them sleep all curled up in a little kitten pile and to watch them discover their toys. What an awesome opportunity to provide a temporary home for these animals and get lots of unconditional love.
I was able to get some great photographs of the kittens and Valerie. Here’s one of them.

Last week I got emails from Sandy Vesledahl and Bridgette Hallcock at Premier Bank, alerting me to an upcoming pancake breakfast fundraiser for the Rice County Humane Society (RCHS). (Dog photo by Bridgette, taken at last year’s Susan Perry Memorial Walk for Animals.) I assumed they wanted me to blog about it so I pitched them a Locally Grown membership instead:
‘Twould be great to have Premier Bank as a member of LG. Then you could promo events like this as a community service of Premier. Of course, you can also promo bank-related products and services, too.
Sandy then had the brilliant idea of the bank not only buying a Locally Grown membership for themselves but a separate one for RCHS so that they could do their own sidebar membership blog posts.

I got treated last week to a surprise birthday party, orchestrated by my sweetie. She called on these people to help:
L to R: Jeff Johnson, KYMN, emceed the roast; Tim Freeland, KYMN, took the video; Doug Bratland took 24 photos at the start of the party and blogged them within an hour on Northfield.org; and Bridgette Hallcock, DJJD photographer who took over 300 photos throughout the evening (including the above ones of Jeff, Tim and Doug). I’ve put up a party photo album of 100 of Bridgett’s photos here.
Bridgett’s the best special event photographer around, IMHO. Her card says: "Bridgette Hallcock Photography, Castle Rock, Specializing in outdoor photography of seniors, families, and special events. 507-271-3262."
Update 10/3: Robbie was horrified when she saw this blog post because I didn’t include two people who worked behind the scenes with her prior to the event:
Jessica Paxton and Tracy Davis. Thanks, ladies!
