Photo albums: ArtOrg’s opening of the Glen Hanson Gallery

Last Sunday, Robbie and I attended the opening of the ArtOrg exhibit Glen Hanson Gallery: Now and Then, held at ArtOrg’s HQ on the grounds of Switzer’s Nursery and Landscaping just north of Castle Rock on Hwy 3.

ArtOrg’s Dave Machacek has a Flickr album/set of the opening, with all photos by Dan Iverson.

See Dan’s album of 136 photos, the large slideshow (recommended), or this small slideshow:

Knowing that Dan Iverson was taking lots of attendee photos freed me up to take other kinds of photos, like ones of Glenn Switzer prepping the roasted hog, as well as a few artsy fartsy shots:

The Garage and Anthologie move on; Nick raises money for the HOPE Center

Storefront: The Garage and Anthologie, 18 Bridge Square Chip DeMann is the new retail store manager for the Northfield Historical Society. I heard him on Wayne Eddy’s KYMN radio show yesterday say that the NHS retail space currently occupied by The Garage and Anthologie will be available at the end of the month.

Dan Iverson has a post on his Anthologie blog saying “As of March 17, 2010, Anthologie will no longer be based out of our offices and gallery at 18 Bridge Square in Northfield. We’re moving 20 miles north to make it easier than before to meet face to face with our clients.”

Nothing yet posted to Nick Sinclair’s Art of Fuel / The Garage blog. Last weekend, Nick held a fundraiser for the HOPE Center at the Faribault Harley-Davidson store. See his blog post on Northfield.org.

Anthologie rents space, makes news, blogs, tweets

Dan Iverson John MagnoskiPhotographers Dan Iverson and John Magnoski have a new business in downtown Northfield on Bridge Square called Anthologie and it was featured in the Mankato Free Press last week in a story titled Picture perfect proposal. Dan has a blog post with some background on the 3 am caper.

anthologie logo Their business is “family anthologies that blend professional photography and biographical story-telling” – that’s from a Northfield News article titled Focusing on the bigger picture by David Henke back in May when they opened their storefront. ‘Tis cool to see another new Northfield business embracing social media. Visit the Anthologie blog, the Anthologie Facebook group, and follow both Dan and John on Twitter.

They’ve got a special 4th of July offer going called American Anthologie. Dan writes in their blog:

american_blog1 John and I will interview and photograph champions of the ideals on which our nation was founded. We are not only interested in speaking with soldiers and veterans, but anyone with an American spirit and a story to tell.

Tell us what it means to you to be an American. Tell us when you felt the most American. Tell us what your hopes are for the future of America. We will interview you, photograph you, preserve your memorabilia and create a custom book telling your American story – safeguarding it for future generations.

Fierke is performing at the Touche bar on Saturday and will play “Train’s Song,” a song inspired by the trains traveling through Northfield, Minn. Below are video interviews with Fierke and Iverson shot in Fierke’s home on Monday.
