For National Coming Out Day, two Carleton students taking Doug McGill’s fall journalism class recently published Northfield-related stories: Debbie Wong published “Coming Out Day” Raises Issues and Eyebrows in Northfield on the new Pressville blog and Maia Rodriguez published On National Coming Out Day, Northfield Reflects on Its "Gay-Friendliness" on Northfield.org. I found it troubling that neither of them mentioned or linked to our 2007 blog post, How gay-friendly is Northfield? with the 30 comments attached. (continued)

Carleton’s Pressville blog launches

Doug McGill, visiting instructor in English at Carleton, is teaching a "Journey in Journalism" class in the English department this term, similar to last year with its focus on Northfield-related stories.

The classroom is operating as a newsroom with 22 students covering stories of interest in Northfield and Rice County, as well as Carleton stories that resonate beyond the campus into local, state, national and global communities. We are publishing daily through the term so please come back often or add Pressville.org to your bookmarks and RSS feeds.
