The Froggy Bottoms River Pub reopened tonight. Shannon Mills and Laurie Hoheisel now own the pub, leasing the space from former owner and current building owner David Hvistendahl.

Our Valley Pond Townhouse Association neighbor, Shannon Mills (pictured at left with my wife Robbie), has had a lot to deal with lately.
Her townhouse burned down in 2009, she lost her job at Froggy Bottoms when it closed due to flooding last fall, and in February, her husband, Don Mills, died of colon cancer.
According to this blog post on KYMN: VFW hosts benefit for Mills family Saturday:
The Northfield VFW hosts a benefit for the family of Don Mills this Saturday. Don passed away in February after battling cancer, leaving behind wife Shannon and three children, Taylor, Christopher and Landon…
Saturday’s benefit will feature a variety of activities, including a spaghetti dinner at 5:00, a beer bash at 6:00 and a Texas Hold ‘em tournament that begins at 8:00. There will also be a silent auction starting at 4:00. If you’d like to make a cash donation to the family, you can do so at the First National Bank of Northfield. The benefit gets underway Saturday at the Northfield VFW.

David Hvistendahl showed me the high water mark from last September inside Froggy Bottoms this morning when the pub was destroyed. We’ve got a long way to go to beat that. David said that hydrostatic pressure starts forcing water up from the floor when the Cannon River tops the orange ‘danger’ sign on the 4th St. bridge. We’re getting close to that.
Like last fall, I’m continuing to add photos to the same photo album, in this case Spring flooding 2011.

The soggy Froggy Bottoms boys, led by Jake and Dave Hvistendahl, are sandbagging today, as heavy rains overnight and throughout the morning hours have pushed the Cannon River over its banks along the Riverwalk in downtown Northfield.

Despite the efforts of one of her bodyguards, I managed to get a photo this week of the 2010 St. Patrick’s Day Celebration grand marshal, Emily Monaghan.
The screenshot on the right is from the ad in the March Northfield Entertainment Guide.
See this 20-second video of the Folding Chair Precision Marching Unit from the 2007 parage which included Northfield City Councilors Jim Pokorney and Noah Cashman. I’m not sure if this will be in this year’s parade:

Co-owners Lana Huberg (left photo), Amy Williams, and Lisa Marie have opened Salon Synergy (“hair, nails spa treatments”) on the West Side of downtown Northfield on Water St., part of the Froggy Bottom’s River Pub and Suites complex. I took these photos a couple weeks ago when Robbie had an appointment with Lana.
One interesting advantage: you can buy a drink at Froggy’s and bring it upstairs while they do your doo. Somebody should open a dentist office there.

I had no idea this was in the works until I saw the headline in today’s NY Times: Secretary of State Clinton Arrives at Foggy Bottom.
You can see FB proprietor David Hvistendahl in the background (red arrow) of this crowd shot from earlier this morning.
