New Moon Trio: still aging after all these years

I first blogged about the New Moon Trio back in December of 2008 shortly after they formed the group.

I took the photos below of the band members (Ross Currier, bass; Lance Heisler, drums; Justin London, guitar) last night at the Contented Cow.

~~Their physical deterioration is evident~~. They continue to age like a fine wine.

Don’t think twice, it’s alright to celebrate Bob’s birthday today

Ever since his daughter Athena’s comic strip about his anatomical nickname as a kid, Ross Currier has been using his physical attributes to advertise various causes.

This morning it was his Duluth Does Dylan t-shirt which he was using to promote tonight’s Dylan Fest at the Contented Cow, celebrating Bob’s 70th birthday today:

More than 20 Northfield area musicians will perform songs from Dylan’s legendary catalogue in a five hour concert on The Contented Cow’s popular outdoor stage.

I’ve obtained the performance schedule. Ross’ band, the New Moon Trio, performs at 7:40.

New Moon Trio plus one opens Mayfly Festival at the Cow

It wasn’t raining way back on Thursday evening when the New Moon Trio opened the 2011 Mayfly Festival on the Contented Cow‘s outdoor stage. Webcomic blogger Athena Currier joined in on the vocals.

The Mayfly Festival continues today, rain or shine.

Friday night at the Cow: patrons get popcorn, New Moon Trio gets a new voice, CAC gets some donations

The crowd at the Contented Cow got a treat last night:

A new popcorn machine made its debut and after several hours of cranking out decent popcorn, it still had not caught on fire
Carleton College music major Hannah Button-Harrison joined the New Moon Trio for a set
Twin Cities jazz sextet Optimum Trajectory performed and generated donations from the crowd for the Northfield Community Action Center.

JuneBug 2010 opens

Ross and pals (New Moon Band) performed at the Contented Cow last night, the opening night of JuneBug 2010 that continues through Saturday. The Cow has added a protective canopy on its outdoor stage, an upper deck perch for its sound control system, and a grassy knoll for expanded seating and yard games.

Other venues for JuneBug 2010 include the Rueb ‘n’ Stein and Butler’s Steak & Ale.

Locally Grown Trio bombs at the Cow

Ross and Tracy and I performed a set at the Contented Cow last night while the rest of the New Moon Trio took a break.

We were hoping for a strong audience reaction and we got it: yawns and boos.

I guess we’d better limit our live performances to talk-shows.

The New Moon Trio performed on the Contented Cow‘s outdoor stage last Friday, minus their drummer Lance Heisler. Athena Currier more than made up for his absence by joining papa Ross Currier and Justin London for a set.

Last night’s farewell party at the Contented Cow for RepJ reporter Bonnie Obremski and her fiancé, Josh Rowan, was a rockin’ good time, with lots of well-wishers, music by the New Moon Trio (plus Bonnie), and a candy piñata.
