No, I didn’t take any Winter Walk photos. However, others did.

Alas, by the time I finished dinner with friends at Mandarin Garden and got my annual allotment of wool socks at Rare Pair, Winter Walk 2010 was nearly over.  So I bailed on taking photos. Luckily, others did:

Winter Walk freebie: a photo with the James Younger Gang

Bridgette HallcockWhile strolling through the luminary lit streets of downtown Northfield during this week’s Winter Walk, make sure to stop in the Northfield Historical Society for free photographs with the James Younger Gang.

With my Bridgette Hallcock Photography hat on, I will be there to take your photo with the Gang from 6 -9 pm Thursday, December 9. I’ll then post your picture on both the Defeat of Jesse James Days and Northfield Historical Society websites for you to download and print.

This is a free event, so stop in, warm up, and have some fun with the James-Younger Gang, Defeat of Jesse James Days committee members, and the fine folks at the Northfield Historical Society.

See you there!

Editor’s Note: I’ve added my photos of Bridgette doing her thing during last year’s Winter Walk. Her photos of people with the James Younger Gang are waaaay better. – Griff

A gorgeous snowfall, just in time for Winter Walk

Northfield seemed to be in the middle of the heaviest snow band from this latest storm. I’m guessing we got 10 inches of the fluffy variety.  Anyone have an accurate total?

It’ll make parking downtown challenging today for holiday shoppers, as to-the-curb removal won’t happen till tonight.  I took these photos shortly after 6 am: Division St. outside GBM and Oolala.

The forecast calls for high temps to be in the teens through next week, perfect for keeping the snow in good condition for Winter Walk 2010 next Thursday, Dec. 9.

Update 4 PM: some additional photos of Division St. between 4th and 5th.

It’s remaining to look a lot like Christmas

Santa's house on Bridge Square, March 23, 2010It’s nice to see the grass greening up around Santa’s house on Bridge Square, not to mention the Muni Xmas window that’s still on display. But I’m eager for the popcorn wagon to replace it.

Maybe tonight’s big meeting at City Hall with the community event organizers will resolve who has to pay to remove Santa’s house.  Those pesky Winter Walk folks?
