We have a rule here on Locally Grown that we don’t use the blog to promote community events, as we don’t want to compete with Northfield.org. We routinely ignore this rule when we’re involved with the event somehow.
After rigorous tryouts, Ross Currier and I are among the men selected to perform in a grand finale tonight at The Grand for
Girls Night Out
See more about the First Annual Girls Nite Out on Ross’s NDDC blog.
Griff,
re: “we dont want to compete with Northfield.org….”
I would ask that you do. Lately Northfield.org seems to be overwhelmed with Carleton and St. Olaf news. I like it but would rather not have to wade through it all to get to the towny stuff…. I think it would be great to have some of it at least on this site. Maybe this would not fit your mission statement. Just my thoughts on it anyway….
I would argue that LGN continues to post community events that they either participate in, or feel that there should/needs to be/will be discussion about.
I love N.org for what it is, but I come here for the discussions, (and to see what Griff will do next.)
BTW, where are those LGN rules and by-laws kept?

Kurt, I’ve taken the N.org community events RSS feed and its now showing the 10 most recent blog headlines of events-only on our lower right sidebar. Does that help?
Bylaws? We don’t need no stinkin’ bylaws! (Substitute the word ‘bylaws’ for the word ‘transmitters’ in this audioclip.)
Thanks, John. We don’t have an LG rules page yet. There’s a little hint of on our About Us page.
It’s times like these I give thanks that I’m not a girl…nor on a “night out”
Hey, your sister and your mother will be there, cameras in hand, Tyson. You’re going to have to watch this whether you like it or not!
Anyone want to adopt a 28 year old?
I’m charming, independent, and wont ask you for money.
Griff – nice of you to try not to compete with us but I think it only makes us better organizations… or uh, in LGs case, sites.
No one however can scoop you at news coverage and generating discussion. This you’ve done well.
Thanks, Cynthia.
And yes indeed, competition can be a good thing. For example, I think the citizens of the area served well by three print media products: the Northfield News, the Northfield Entertainment Guide, and the Star Tribune metro edition with its South section once/wk.
Now back to tonight’s show. I’ve just blogged the music for the Grand finale.

Tom Jones will be there?

[…] …maybe even the Full Monty. […]
Griff,
Love the headlines from northfield.org in the sidebar. Now I can have the best of both sites,,,,,,,,on one site.
