David Van Wylen resigned from the Northfield Economic Development Authority (EDA) last week. His term was due to expire at the end of 2012. Nfld News 7/11/08: The city’s charter allows for the mayor to select nominees for the city’s boards and commissions, subject to council approval, but gives little direction for how the selection process itself should work.
This is not the first time the council has had an issue with the process the mayor used to select his nominee. In February, the council postponed approving the mayor’s nominees to several open board positions after the mayor seemingly had agreed to provide a rationale for his recommendations and then failed to do so.
