First day of school for Margit and Susan? No, it’s the Northfield Metro Express

Northfield Metro Express bus Margit Johnson, Susan Marino, and Northfield Metro Express bus driver
I was looking for a photo op of kids getting on a bus for the first day of school yesterday morning but stumbled on a better one: Margit Johnson heading to the airport and Susan Marino heading to her job at the University, using the new Northfield Metro Express service. The downtown Northfield stop is at Water St. and 7th St. across from the Northfield Wells Fargo Bank.

See the July 17 Nfld News story of how the service came to be, featuring the owners of Northfield Lines, Larry Benjamin and John Benjamin, and their marketing director, Lisa Peterson (see her blog post on Northfield.org).

And kudos to Northfield Lines for using Twitter and Facebook.

This is great. Maybe I can get to the Capitol in St. Paul this way next session. Tickets are $9, with packages bringing cost down to $5.

    Griff,

We missed you on the 5:49 AM to St. Paul… 😎

The service is wonderful. Simply wonderful.

The bus features two rows of tables, seating 4 each, wireless internet, and comfort beyond compare.

The huge bay windows make the sunrise an incredible site in the morning.

It is so nice to get on in the morning, read the paper cover to cover, have a quart of coffee, and check work e-mail before I even get to work. Then coming home is a time to rest, watch a movie, and recharge, so I am fresh for the family when I get home.

I am completely sold. It is simply AWESOME and I urge everyone to at least try it once. Last Friday I put Jake and Emily (my son and wife) on the 2:42 to St. Paul. They rode up, met me at 4:02 at Travelers, and we had a great time riding home together…

Also, to give you some idea, we already have folks from Randolf, Nerstrand, and Faribault that have come up to catch the bus, and we are bringing lots of folks home from the colleges and airport. It is getting attention, and I hope it continues to grow.

HUGE KUDOS to the Staff of Northfield Lines. They have been just super in getting this going and have been extremely attentive to every comment or suggestion. They are really driven to success!

    Stephanie,

It is just a short walk from the Travelers (St. Peter and 6th) drop off to the Capitol.

This is fantastic! I wish this existed 10 years ago. If it had we might still be in Northfield.

  5. Taking this bus from the U tonight! Very excited! I hope it lives up to my expectations. If so, I can see myself taking this bus a lot more to get between college and Northfield INDEPENDENTLY. Cool stuff.
