While I did not have extensive contacts with Rob Oden, I enjoyed each and every one of them. It has been wonderful to have a fly fishing, pheasant hunting, foreign language speaking, arb running person at the helm of Carleton. While I was a state representative Rob and I occasionally shared breakfasts and discussed higher education issues. I always appreciated his thoughtful comments and observations.
I know it takes a huge amount of energy to head up a college like Carleton. Lots of fund raising travels, much attention to budgets, work with faculty and administration and on and on. I am thankful that Rob elected to come to our little town and help guide our east bank college. I wish him well and hope he truly can spend more quality time with his family.
