A local citizen stopped by my corner office at GBM this morning, concerned that the historic design for the proposed new building at 25 Bridge Square could make downtown Northfield look too much like the newly created Maple Grove/Arbor Lakes downtown (wikipedia entry and photo). I asked him to find me some examples of alternatives and then I looked across the street. (continued)
The revamp of the Oolala building sure seems to work, even the non-1880s yellow. And the modern looking infill on the First National Bank of Northfield building seems to work, too. Are there other local examples? Other examples from around the country? In other countries?
