New schedule for City meetings

To avoid frequent government closures on Federal holidays, many of which fall on Mondays, the City Council has changed their regular meeting dates to the 1st and 3rd TUESDAY of each month.

In the interests of streamlining processes between the Planning Commission and the Council, PCZBA meetings will now be held on the 2nd and 4th 1st and 3rd  THURSDAY of each month.

These changes had a domino effect on a couple of other meeting dates/times, so be sure to check the City calendar for a current, updated list of meetings.  You can also subscribe to the City’s Meeting RSS feed.

Did the change in meeting dates start in January? If so, why was the first Planning Commission meeting on the first Thursday (Jan. 7) rather than the second Thursday (Jan. 14)?

Stephanie: My bad – PC meetings are the 2nd and 4th Thursdays (corrected now in my original post).

    Tracy,
With the change of meeting dates for the New Year, we expected the first PC meeting in January to be second Thursday (Jan. 14). The calendar now shows there will indeed be a Jan. 14 meeting. But it also shows there was a “special” PC meeting last week on Jan. 7 (first Thursday) which everybody but Bob Gill in the township missed.

It did get front page coverage in Saturday paper on both the zoning code and annexation matters you handled that night. So we are now informed–“after the fact.”

You’d think after the design charettes (sp) fiasco, the City would try harder to notify the public, including the townships, on matters that concern them.
