Get a Taste of Northfield tonight

ross_currier_doughnut.jpegThis is a photo from Crazy Days long ago, not Taste of Northfield.

But since it involves Ross tasting something, I thought I’d use it to promo tonight’s Taste of Northfield downtown.

After all of the news lately, I am looking forward to something to get this bitter taste of Northfield out of my mouth. Tonight’s Taste promisses to be much more appealing.

As a member of the Non-motorized Transportation Task Force, I would highly urge you to walk or bike to this downtown event!

Just remember though, that biking, skateboarding, and the riding of circus elephants, is prohibited on the sidewalks by ordinace from Washington to Water, Second to Seventh. 😎

    See you there!

Ah, it’s like the ghost of Crazy Daze past, coming back to haunt me once again…and then there’s the irony of the timing of the posting: http://nddc.org/weblog/post/750/

However, Griff is right, it’s all about Tasting Northfield’s delicious offerings and Alex is right too, our community is a wonderful place to enjoy friends, neighbors and food.

And I’ll add that well over 100 people have helped with this event, including Al Roder, Gary Smith, and Lee Lansing.

So come on down(town), on foot or on wheels, from 5 to 9 pm, and join in the Taste of Northfield.

You guys are up for some fun downtown over the next few days. Emily’s looking forward to tomorrow – there are a bunch of activities planned around the release of the new Harry Potter book:

There are also two raid reenactments set for 7:15 and immediately following. If you’ve had a hard time seeing the raid on the bank during defeat days due to the crowds, this is a perfect opportunity to see it up close–also a super opportunity for taking good pictures. All that will be in the way is a few hundred (1300 total) girlscouts!

    Ross,
Great job on the Taste of Northfield! It was a truly pleasant home town “in the square” event. The crowds were enthusiastic and the food mucn better than the Defeat of Jesse James vendors. We have what it takes right here locally. The only complaint was the pricy admittance to the wine and beer tasting tent with the vendors “thimble” sized communion cups.
Let’s do it even better next year.

What a great evening! It was so nice to have a “Northfield” event to unite downtown with friends and neighbors on a smaller scale than the Defeat of Jesse James Days. Well done organizers! This is the Northfield I love.

I would agree on the Wine and Beer setup.

I purchased tickets when I entered Bridge Square, only to find out that the tent had a $10 charge.

Frankly, I would have much rather enjoyed ONE beer or ONE glass of wine for a few dollars/tickets.

Other than that, the event was FANTASTIC!

My vote for best food this year would have to go to the Northfield Golf Club. The wraps and cupcakes were fantastic!

The crowds were unreal. It was getting very difficult to walk around.

    Best quote overheard last night:

    Michigan Girl Scout Leader:
    “What’s going on over here?”

    Northfield Resident:
“Oh the taste of Northfield. All local food vendors.”

    Michigan Girl Scout Leader:
“Oh, its just so fabulous… You have such a wonderful community here.”

Now, I dont have a link or a podcast to back it up, but I heard it, and it made me proud to live in a town that can host 1700 (17 bazillion) girl scouts, do 2 renactments, and throw a bash like last night. It was quite the deal.

GREAT JOB and KUDOS to everyone involved. It was unreal how large it was. OUTSTANDING!

    Bingo!

Evidently in a week where the sky seems to be literally falling… falling down, down here, in downtown Northfield… there was a fantastic break in the clouds. TASTE was great. I sold tickets… the money was coming in faster than I could count… and after an hour of that I circulated the booths w/a few tickets to spend and the food was really good. DJJD on the other hand pales by comparison.

So, hats-off to that group with the unpronounceable acronym, nddc. How does one become a member of that organization and become part of the movement?

If you want to achieve the first level of Order of the Endedesee, you must purchase a t-shirt.

However, if you wish to rise to the highest rank, you must get the NDDC logo tatooed onto your body…like Renee. She might be willing to show it to you, if you make a sizeable donation to the organization.

    See you Downtown,
