After shoveling a tiny perimeter around my garage door this morning, I put on my Steger Mukluks and made the short hike to my neighborhood James Gang Coffeehouse and Eatery. The temp is around zero with a stiff north wind.
Co-owner Jeff Ewald opened up at 7 am sharp and had the fireplace going. Ahhhh. Later, Jeff teamed up with Greta and Paul to make me a breakfast burrito. Yum.
How much snow did we get? Hard to tell. Lakeville got 17 inches and Faribault got 10, according to NOAA. Somewhere in the middle, it would seem, though I’ll guess high and go with 15.
Griff, KYMN got knocked off the air yesterday, and is still off this morning. However, one can listen online.

(Now, off to shovel/plow)
Paul Douglas says 11.5 by 5 p.m. Saturday on the snow total, but it sure felt like more when I was clearing our driveway last night. Your guess of 15 inches seems about right, but it’s hard to know because there was so much drifting.
I was shoveling my drive way. Over and over and over again. I am sure we got 4 feet (that’s 48 inches) in Dundas. All in my driveway.

Jane-I owe you an apology. I ran out places to put the snow in our driveway, so I have been driving it over to Dundas and dumping it. It didn’t look anyone was home so I dumped it in your driveway. I won’t let it happen again. you could use the passive shoveling method. it should melt by April.
Phil, are there any trained NWS spotters in Northfield?
Jerry, I really want to take your new snow bike for a ride when you get it. Strictly for journalistic review purposes, of course!
Griff, somebody reports from 1SM SE of Northfield; I don’t know who that person might be. He/she is a trained spotter, and as of 3:50 PM yesterday was reporting 11.5 inches. Spotters are all volunteers, and I don’t know if there are any particular reporting requirements as far as when or how often they take observations. What I DO know is that professional weather folks are very appreciative of the information they provide.
Too late to look now, but here it comes again! Blasted global warming!
