Rather than continuing to annoy those of you here on LoGro who have no interest in my recreational life, I’ve created a new blog: Mountain Bike Geezer. From the About page:
This blog site is not only about my mountain bike adventures, but also about the sport of mountain biking, especially here in Minnesota: issues, organizations, people, legislation, funding, etc. And since I also use a bike for around-town errands, paved trail riding with family and friends, and the occasional commute, I may occasionally blog about non-mountain bike bicycling.
You can also follow my new Twitter account that accompanies the blog: @MtnBikeGeezer.
Funny to stumble across the post about your gravel road ride to Murphy. I was riding in there with you guys that day. I remember how when you guys said you had ridden up from Northfield I decided to tell you how you could bail out of the expert loop early. I felt bad about having said that because surely you would not want to cut short such an epic voyage!
I live on the edge of Murphy. Would you kindly share the route you took, as I might want to make the reverse trip? Thanks and regards, Todd
Hey Todd, no worries. We rode the full expert loop and had a blast.
As for the route, I’ll see if our fearless leader Jerry Bilek has the details, as I was a follower. He used MapMyRide to plan the trip, and we pretty much followed his plan on the way up. The return trip was pretty much ad hoc!
Todd,
Here is the route.

like Griff said, we rode the Northfield to MH route, did a full loop and then kind of freelanced our way over to Umore park for more gravel
Jerry, only people with accounts can see that map, so here’s a screenshot that might help Todd:

Thanks Griff. Actually I did get an account. It’s good to look at some back roads. I love living over here by Murphy because I really don’t have to ride with traffic. But I do need a little excitement every once in a while. So a ride to Northfield certainly fits the bill. ~Todd
Griff-I made Todd a friend so he could view the route.
Todd-the gravel roads south of Northfield are beautiful. great riding with little traffic. farmer trail, valley grove, caron park. all are gorgeous places to ride.
