How ’bout some happy news? I’ve been away for a couple of weeks, and during my attempts to get “caught up” (whatever that means), I ran into the little tidbit that Northfield’s own Wayne Eddy is soon to be inducted into Minnesota’s Museum of Broadcasting Hall of Fame, where he will join other legends Herb Carneal, Charlie Boone, Dave Moore, et al.
I suppose if KYMN had a website, they’d have done a better job of announcing this and all the juicy details, but no matter.
Hey, this is way cool…
…and well deserved.
His current “Wayne Eddy Show” is an innovative and fascinating approach to exploring the wide variety of personalities that help make up a community.
There will be an opportunity to congratulate Wayne at a public reception/roast/party at The Grand Event, Thursday, November 1. Come out and say hey to one of Northfield’s most legendary institutions, the talented Wayne Eddy! He has, no doubt, been the best promoter of our fine city since John North sold New Yorkers on coming west to build it.
This is beyond cool. And yet another great example of the many wonderful things about Northfield. Not only do we have our own local radio station (a.m. radio can never be replaced!) but our own legendary radio personality. To be honored along with this extraordinary group of talent (just mentioning the names Vern Gagne and Mel Jass totally takes me back to Saturday afternoons as a kid — glued in front of our b/w television set — oops! I just completely dated myself) is such a thrill. Kudos, Wayne, and thanks so much for keeping the radio tradition alive and well.
