I’ve gotten considerable support and a good measure of criticism on my recent blog post, Loss of virginity announcement: Barbara Cew, 19.
So here’s a straw poll to give me some more feedback on it. And if you’d like to discuss the poll or the blog post, attach comments.
[poll=3]
Just voted on loss of sex in th’ straw, not to be mistaken with a roll in the hay! –
LOVED IT… begging the question what do you mean by IT in the voting options?
On a more serious note, I feel compelled to comment on the vote – or the options. YES, Loved it… but is its placement with all the serious commentary appropriate?
Maybe it needs to be set-off from the pages of text as cartoons in the New Yorker are separated from the prose text. Might be a publishing dilemma. Further begs the question of subsequent contributions… Will they be as artfully acute? Or, just tasteless.
As a FORMER perFORMER in improvisational theater… I thought it was quite provocative and it’s associated comment on the Obits in the BIG.ORG — well that was quite good!

Victor, thanks for your supportive comments.
I’m a big believer in mixing the fluff/soft news right in with the issues/serious stuff, especially for a blog this size.
And it seems to me that that’s similar to the way the New Yorker uses their cartoons, rather than having a cartoon section.
As for subsequent loss-of-virginity announcements, I’m not inclined but I could be seduced into it.
Time to close the poll, now that the negatives have clearly out-paced the positives. Ouch!
