One of Andrea’s Angels joins the Wigley family: Layla

A little over a week ago, Robbie and I were enjoying a beer on the deck of the Contented Cow when she got a Facebook message in response to her query about the availability of the puppy in the left photo.  I had no idea she was interested in getting a dog but within 24 hours ("It’s my birthday present to myself"), this one joined our family.  (After a half-dozen different names—I voted for ‘Yoda’ because of her big ears—we finally settled on ‘Layla.’)

Layla was rescued from a puppy mill by Andrea Stark and her mother, Kim Stark, owners of Andrea’s Angels Rescue here in Northfield:

We are dedicated to rescuing homeless and unwanted animals… We are a small rescue, completely volunteer based. This means we have no physical shelter. All our animals are in homes, learning to be a part of the family. We are run by two very dedicated animal lovers.

Andrea and Kim did a home visit to make sure we were suitable. We found them to be as delightful and fun as they were professional.    See the Andrea’s Angels Facebook page, too.

We brought Layla to the Cow last night (right photo) and celebrated with a glass of Schell Shocked, the new grapefruit radler by Schell’s Brewery.

Congratulations, Robbie and Griff, and thank you for providing a home to a dog in need of one. Love those ears.

I first heard of Andrea’s Angels Rescue a couple of days ago when handed a note I’ll repeat for those who might like a cool treat: Root beer floats, $2, Bridge Square, 1-3 p.m., July 16, 17, 18 & 19, all proceeds to AAR.

Thanks for that info, Tom. I did see this flyer for the root beer floats fundraiser in a downtown window yesterday:
