The Mayor’s Streetscape Task Force meets this Wed, Dec. 5, 7:30-9am at City Hall, council chambers.
The 5th Street and Water Street Parking Lot improvement project will be discussed. See the consultant’s Northfield streetscape website for all the background and documentation.
We’ll have the Director of Public Services, Joel Walinski, on our Locally Grown podcast/radio show this week. If you’ve got questions you’d like to have us ask Joel, attach them here.
How about thinking up clever names for the ‘east side’ Water Street parking Lot and the ‘west side’ Water Street Parking lot which distinguish each of them from a wayfinding point of view, both for us locals, and for the many visitors we get (and hope to get) downtown. And how about a new concept for snow removal, the current giant machine which worked over the ‘west side’ parking lot area from 3-4:30 am Monday scalped the new sod off the boulevard in front of Jerry’s Hair Shop – and it was some of the scarce green space left after the City let MNDOT design this key area of our Downtown. Were all in this together…
Dean –
I’ve always been told that the westside parking was called the Horseshoe Lot.
It kind of has that nice James Gang ring to it.
