Guess who’s moving into the old Cocoa Bean space? Next Level Cafe

Former Cocoa Bean space We first speculated back in April about what restaurant might be moving into this former Cocoa Bean space above the Contented Cow.

We now know from building owner Norman Butler’s blog post (#43 in the CCB discussion) last week of his intent to put a restaurant in there and his recent decision to NOT go ahead with that plan.

So plans are being now made for a business to relocate there. Build-out has begun.

Guess who?

Update Dec. 6:

Next Level Cafe logo Ali Anderson, Richard Anderson, Norman Butler Since nobody’s guessed yet, I thought I’d freshen up this Dec. 3 post with the news that the new tenant is Next Level Cafe, a Burnsville-based technology services company that recently merged with Northfield-based badbrain computers.

badbrain owner Rob Brown and staff will be moving into the space as soon as build-out is completed, probably in January sometime.

On Tuesday this week, I took the photo on the right of Next Level Cafe CEO Richard Anderson and CFO Ali Anderson (spouses) with building owner (and proprietor of the Contented Cow and Chapati) Norman Butler. Click to enlarge.

  1. Thanks, Griff! What a nice welcome….ah…the joy of operating a business in a city that has a sense of COMMUNITY!

For those that have enjoyed the expertise of badbrain computers and the rock solid team members who work in Northfield (Rob, Aaron, Ari and Nate) – fret not, they’re all still on-board and doing what they do best (fixing your computers and helping you get more from your technology).

We likely will continue using the badbrain computers name as well, at least in the Northfield area because, stated simply, “if it ain’t broke…”

For those that haven’t heard of Next Level Cafe, we enjoy the camaraderie of 25 team members (4 in Northfield) and primarily service small and midsized businesses in the Twin Cities area. Our model is a bit different than that of most computer-geek-service-providers in that, for our business customers, we don’t charge hourly…we charge on a monthly-contract basis – and that contract is all-inclusive of helpdesk (remote) support, onsite support, and project-based services (new computer setups, server upgrades, etc.). We also provide 24×7 phone support – which is great for you late-working professionals who suffer through computer challenges after 5p.

In the Northfield area, we are currently operating in the Nasby building, but it’s time for us to “grow up” and switch into the “fast lane” – by relocating to Division Street.

Thanks to Norman for helping us convert that space into something that will help position us for success in the coming years! We look forward to continuing to provide computer and technology support services to the residents and businesses in the Northfield area and look forward to bringing a wider range of products (computer sales) and services in 2008!

Feel free to contact me via email or phone (507.663.7050) if you have any questions or know of anyone in need of technology assistance.

    Regards,
    Rich

Rich, thanks for the detailed comment on the plans for badbrain/Next Level Cafe. I’ll stop by and snap a few more photos as construction progresses.

And let us know if/when you have a grand re-opening.

Next Level Cafe has completed its move of badbrain computers to its new space at 3rd and Division above the Contented Cow. I stopped by yesterday to take these photos and chatted with Aaron Kuhlman.

Former badbrain owner (and longtime NCO board member) Rob Brown has departed the company and is now living in the Twin Cities area.
