Northfield Patch did this Q&A with Frank Balster back in Aug. for the primary election:
Q&A: Frank Balster, Candidate for Northfield’s Second Ward
It is disconcerting to hear a candidate make a claim, that just lies there, unchallenged, unless the questioner/moderator/ host has adequate background to dig a little deeper.
For Instance: on this morning’s KYMN interview of Jon Denison by Jeff Johnson, Mr Denison stated that his opponent, Erica Zweifel had held up the Safety Center process for two years by insisting that she would not approve a location on the more southern part of Highway 3.
That was Ms. Zweifel’s stated preference for a long time, BUT …It is, of course, an impossibility for one councilor to enforce that kind of blockage with their one vote… except in any situation where a unanimous vote would be required.
So, for the casual listener, Mr. Denison may have laid the seeds of discontent on Councilor Zweifel; however his misrepresentation was just that, a misrepresentation of fact, barring any stronger language.
I wish Jeff Johnson had questioned/ challenged the veracity of that statement.
P.S. But thanks to KYMN for all the generally increased local coverage.
Griff,
Given that Betsey is not taking comments (at least from me) on her blog, can you move the October 21, 2012 post over here? I wouldn’t mind an on-line debate with her.
Ack! Sorry I missed this comment of yours, David.
Here’s the link to Betsy’s blog post, Two perspectives on Council performance.
What part of her post did you want to respond to?
