I took this photo last night of Susan Hvistendahl, the Frog Blog blogger at Froggy Bottoms River Pub and sister of proprietor David Hvistendahl. They’re hosting a social gathering next week for Northfield’s blogosphere — bloggers, commenters, and lurkers.
It’s not a Locally Grown-sponsored event but we do like the idea and it’s possible that more than a third of the triumvirate will show up.
See the PDF flyer and Susan’s blog post for more info.
If more than a third show up does that represent a quorum and require that you comply with Open Meeting laws regarding notification and access?
Come to the F 2 F event, Bruce, and this topic you bring up can be discussed ad infinitum, which might become ad nauseam, so let’s just celebrate the change in the weather (40 degrees promised for Tuesday!) at Froggy Bottoms!
Bruce, we promise there will be no minutes and no agendas, hidden or posted. Basically, what happens at Froggy’s, stays at Froggy’s. And there will be no open mike: if you want people to listen, you’ll have to say something interesting enough to get them to want to listen.
Those who crave the spotlight can come back on Thursdays for karaoke, although a dramatic reading of the Everett report might not win any votes.
Well, actually you don’t have to come and say anything interesting at all. I say uninteresting things all the time (just ask my daughter.) I was thinking of practicing my karaoke version of “These Boots are Made for Walking” during Tuesday’s Happy Hour, but as there is no open mike, I promise not to sing. So folks, it is safe to come. Free chili cheese dip and salsa with tortilla chips for F 2 F’ers around 5 p.m. and always free popcorn at Froggy’s, along with happy hour 4-6 p.m. drink specials. See you there!
Thanks to the 21 people who showed up at Froggy Bottoms tonight for the trial run of F 2 F Northfield, a gathering of bloggers, contributors to blogs and lurkers face-to-face. Looks like we will have to do it again sometime!
We asked participants to write down one surprising fact about themselves and you might be interested to know that in the blogosphere community here there is someone who: grew up with a cook, gardener and nanny, won the overall champion all-age division in a watermelon eating contest at age 4, sent out Christmas letters with a photo of herself with Yasser Arafat, was a paid firefighter, lives in a two Shop-Vac house, played in a polka band with polka legend Wally Pikal, is a huge rodeo fan, is trying to get over being shy, did a Washington semester program at American University in D.C. in the spring of 1972, was on a national championship World TeamTennis team in Palm Springs, California in 1999, has a lawyer who sometimes says, “Joey Ramone, pray for us sinners,” spent seven years in Catholic seminary, has six grandchildren, is a computer Geek, loves strategic board games and “can’t sing half as well as Ed Kuhlman.”
And no, I will not divulge identities here! What happens at Froggy’s stays at Froggy’s.
Thanks again to all who came.
Susan Hv.
Thanks for hosting the event, Susan. I’ve blogged 8 photos, some yours, some mine.
We’re baaaack! Tuesday, May 20, the second F2F Northfield social gathering at Froggy Bottoms, Happy Hour 4-6 p.m. and beyond. Welcome, bloggers, contributers to blogs, lurkers and partiers in general. This time we will meet face to face in the party room, with access to the river deck, so we hope for good weather. You are encouraged to bring along a favorite website/blog to share with others. For example, my brother Brad Sondahl in Spirit Lake, Idaho, has a website (www.sondahl.com) for his pottery business along with a blog, but also has an eclectic selection of his own art (he was in St. Olaf’s Paracollege), photographs, music, cartoons, literature, videos—even a Phil S. Steen campaign for president. We’re betting you have an original/offbeat/fantastic website or blog to recommend, as well! Perhaps your own. So, log off and come lift a glass with us this Tuesday. You can contact us at F2FNorthfield@yahoo.com with any questions.
See y’all Tues. eve. the 20th at Froggy Bottoms for F2F Northfield 4-6 p.m. and beyond! Lurkers welcome! Bienvenidos a todos.
I’m getting ready now. See y’all!
Just got back. Fast, huh? We met Anne Bretts, Susan H., Mayor Jane McWilliams ;), Curtis Benson, Felicity and Patrick Enders and Bart D.
We missed John Dennison (?)
My dh and I order food and I am blogging it at my new Northfield Restaurant Blog site. Come by sometime and get the foodie scoop.
