Goodhue County Sheriff deputies in town executing search warrants

Goodhue Sheriff car Lansing Hardware door Home Source Mortgage

At 9 am this morning, the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Department was executing a search warrant at Lansing’s Hardware. I tried to enter but the doors were locked and a “closed for inventory” sign on the door. There were several men inside, along with Lee and David.

I phoned Interim Police Chief Roger Schroeder to inquire about what was happening. He said he did get a courtesy call this morning from Goodhue that the operation was about to begin but otherwise had no information. I phoned Lee Lansing, but he was not at liberty to talk. I phoned Rice County Court admin to see what public info was available for search warrants but was told they don’t typically receive them till several days after they’ve been served.

Tracy and I conferred throughout the morning about what to blog and when and we decided to wait and see if others in town were being served with search warrants.

A few minutes ago, the Northfield News posted a story on their web site in which they reported that the “A second sheriff’s vehicle has pulled up to the Home Source Mortgage business of Paul Norby on Sixth Street and emerged with four computers.”

We’re trying to get a public copy of the search warrant.

The press release search warrant is not yet public, but I have been informed by Lansing’s attorney that today’s warrant was not simply directed at Lee Lansing and Lansing Hardware, but sought emails, business records, and correspondence to, from, or relating to several other individuals and entities including Paul Norby, Al Roder, New Division Development Corporation, and several banks.

It’s not clear from what few facts I have that this is in fact related to a criminal investigation of Lee Lansing. It could just as well be related to the criminal investigation of Al Roder. Maybe both.

Thanks, Tracy. Good to have a fellow speculator. 😉 When can the warrant be made public?

The Nfld News has a new version of their story in today’s paper and on their website. It has a slightly different headline: Goodhue County executes search warrants than the previous two “Goodhue Sheriff at Lansing Hardware.”

I captured the screens of three different versions of the story. There may have been others.

Aarrgghh. Once again, the Northfield News has one version of a story on its website and different one in print. An eagle-eyed citizen alerted me to the two versions, including this important sentence missing from the web version titled: Goodhue investigation in final stretch.

City Administrator Al Roder said investigators this week also searched the mayor’s former city hall office, which has been closed since last December, but did not interview the administrator.
