Northfield Community Band salutes the Greatest Generation

It was a picture-perfect weather for a performance by the Northfield Community Band (under the direction of Claire Larson) on Bridge Square last night, the first concert in their 2008 series of four. Last night featured music from the forties and included a salute to Northfield area WWII veterans who are still with us.

The concert series is sponsored by the Northfield Public Schools Community Services Division (former Northfield News reporter Megan Proft is now the Enrichment Coordinator and she organized this event), the Northfield Area Foundation (NAF), and St. Olaf and Carleton colleges. On their website: “The Community Band extends a special thanks to the Northfield Historical Society and By All Means Graphics.”

Their next performance is next Thursday, June 19 at 6 pm, “in conjunction with the Carleton College All-School Reunion & the Taste of Northfield.”
