Who’s running for Noah Cashman’s At-Large City Council seat? Deadline to file is Sept. 9

Noah Cashman
According to this page on the Northfield LWV site:

There will be a special election for the Northfield City Council at-large position vacated by Noah Cashman on the general election ballot in November. The filing period is August 26-September 9. The term of office will run through December 2010 to fill out Mr. Cashman’s original term of office.

This position will be not be included in the primary election (Sept. 9) due to the timing of the filing period. Anyone who might have been considering filing for City Council earlier, but didn’t, now has a second opportunity. It will be too late for anyone who loses in the primary election to file for this seat.

On Monday, August 18, the City Council appointed Dixon Bond to fill this vacancy, to serve for the period of time from August 18 to December 31, 2008.

    Thx for the alert, Jerold.

Here’s a blurb on Lynn Vincent from the WINGS board page:

President Lynn Vincent is a Principal in Vincent and McBride, Inc., a Northfield firm dedicated to helping businesses and nonprofits thrive. She is the retired CEO of the Girl Scout Council of Cannon Valley, having held the same position in two other councils. Her life-long passion has been equality for women and girls, which matches very well the mission of WINGS. Lynn has served as an at-large member and as vice president of the Board during 2006 and 2007

Thank you, Griff, for helping get the word out about my candidacy for the two-year at-large position left by the resignation of Noah Cashman. I have worked in Northfield since 2000, and two years ago my husband and I chose Northfield as our retirement home. It is a great place to live, and I want to be a part of it.
Since I am a relative newcomer I’d like to take some time, if you don’t mind, to introduce myself to those of who may not know me yet. My life has centered on giving back to any community in which I lived, and I have lived in many. My husband D. L. Vincent is retired Air Force having dedicated 22 yuears of his life to the service of our country, which meant we moved around a bit. A great way, I discovered, to introduce your self to the new community is to become involved.
I have been a member of Rotary in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Fort Collins, Colorado, and here in Northfield I served on the Rotary Board. I am a long-time member of HCI, and I am the President this year for the WINGS organization. I worked for Girl Scouts of the USA for 29 years, 14 of those years in the CEO position. In Girl Scouts I led one council through the annexation of a neighboring council, conducted a capital campaign, and oversaw the construction of a new program center. In the Cannon Valley Council that was headquartered here in NOrthfield I increased membership by 24%, took the income of the council from $600,000 to $1.3 Mil., brought Girl Scouting to girls whose mothers are incarcerated in the Women’s prison in Shakopee, and led the council through a merger process with four other Minnesota Girl SCout councils. When I got bored with retirement I joined a friend in creating Vincent & McBride, Inc.
I am looking forward to meeting all of you, and hopefully continuing my life of service as the at-large Councilwoman on the Northfield City Council. Lynn
