In case you’re living under a rock, the 10th Annual Winter Walk is this Thursday. See the Chamber’s Winter Walk page for the entire schedule.
But it seems to be a well-kept secret that this year, for the very first time, there will be a
Winter Walk Holiday Parade
that starts at 5 PM at Econofoods and goes down Division to the library.
Sandy Vesledahl and Merilyn Calcutt are co-chairs of the 2008 Winter Walk parade and I just got this email from Sandy on some of the parade participants that they’ve lined up thus far:
… the Northfield High School Drummers, Santa Claus, the Cast of "It’s a Wonderful Life", Northfield Dance Academy, Middle School Carolers, Frosty, Rudolph, Elves, the Raiders Football Team…

The Rice County Humane Society is a new addition to the Winter Walk. We will have an adoption event at the armory from 5-8 pm, with treats, prizes, and items for sale. We also will be in the parade, passing out treats and information with the help of the Girl Scouts and Scooby Doo. The animals for adoption will not be in the parade, it can a little too stressful for them, feel free to join us at the Armory and meet the cats and dogs and treats!
