Many of Northfield’s busy intersections got yellow signs saying “Single? NothfieldSingles.ORG” planted on all corners over the weekend. Nothing’s revealed on the website about who’s doing this but a quick check shows other towns nearby are likely getting hit, too.
See faribaultsingles.org and redwingsingles.org. The domain names are registered to overseas addresses. Isn’t this a violation of Northfield’s sign ordinance?
Saw this on reddit.com a while back. Here’s some research on the signs origin from someone who had way too much time – http://themetricsystem.rjmetrics.com/2008/11/06/single-lawn-signs-conquer-the-american-landscape/
Thanks for that link, Tyson. Also in the comment thread attached to it:

Tyson,
That was a really great link to an interesting story. Almost 9,000 domains… pretty amazing. Thanks for sharing. I never would have guessed.
I laughed when I saw these.
I thought they said “NorthfieldSinglesOMG” when I first saw one.
