Ross stopped by my corner office at the GBM yesterday to show me a new NDDC poster that’s a variation on the Be Local…Buy Local campaign: Be Local… Rock Local!…

Now that Leif Knecht has copious amounts of idle time on his hands, he’s ramping up his efforts to create what he’s calling the Lower Heath Creek Bicycle Pedestrian Trail in Bridgewater Township.
As the map below shows, the trail would loop around Heath Creek south of Old Dutch Road and north of Armstrong Road, adjacent to the Gill-Prawer property that’s currently in annexation negotiations for the development of the West Armstrong Business Park:
I stopped by Just Food Co-op last night for their owner-exclusive 5-year anniversary celebration. As a member/owner, I scored lots of free yummy goodies while taking a few photos. Note that they have a new logo and a revamped blog site.
See the album of a dozen photos, the large slideshow, or this small slideshow:
It’s a little known fact that the Northfield Arts Guild Festival of Wreaths (last year it was trees) is a competition, not just an auction/fundraiser. This year’s winner: the donut…
Looks like Tim Sellars has figured a way to legally have a Nativity scene display on the sidewalk in front of Tiny’s. There’s no baby Jesus there so it’s not really religious, just a display of a bunch of Palestinian figurines hanging around, waiting expectantly for the hot dogs to be served.
Update 12/3, 6:15 am: The Palestinians evidently have not been waiting for hotdogs. New photo taken this morning on the right.
Somehow, word of this got missed, so I’ll start at the end and work back to the beginning: There is an open house today (Tuesday) and tomorrow (Wednesday) from 4:00-6:00pm at Community Resource Bank, 1605 Heritage Drive. The purpose of the open house is to get reaction to each day’s work on design/concept charrettes drafted by HKG with input from the steering committee. The charrettes are very much works in process. I’ll add details to this post as I can over the next couple of hours (I’m between meetings). But for now – please plan to attend the open house and give feedback on the concepts being considered.
I’m thrilled to see that the Be Local … Buy Local (BLBL) campaign initiated by the Northfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Northfield Downtown Development Corporation is not only web-savvy but recognizes the role that the local blogosphere plays in both the local economy and the information ecosystem. The HTML code they provide for BLBL images includes these explanations:
I heard a Marketplace segment on Tuesday titled Rethinking the idea of gift giving featuring Joel Waldfogel, author of Scroogenomics: Why You Shouldn’t Buy Presents for the Holidays. The book is featured in George Will’s column (Strib reprint today), The gift of not giving: Another huge, value-destroying hurricane is about to slam America.
Two of Northfield’s coffeehouses are open this Thanksgiving morning. I’m blogging this from one in my neighborhood, the James Gang Coffeehouse & Eatery (the only coffeehouse in town with a drive-thru), open till noon. Caribou Coffee is also open but I’m not sure what their hours are today.
