As construction continues on the access to and from the new Peggy Prowe Pedestrian Bridge (AKA DNR Bridge #66549) for the Mill Towns Trail in Northfield, it’s not clear where the trail will go as it enters downtown Northfield. And then what? It’ll be years before there’s a connection to the Cannon Valley Trail in Cannon Falls, so it would seem that getting bikers into downtown at the Riverwalk / Sesquicentennial Legacy Plaza would be ideal. Last week the Northfield City Council heard a presentation from staff and an attorney re: Piper Jaffray’s request to amend the tax increment financing (TIF) note for the Mendota Homes development called The Crossing.
