Ross was AWOL yesterday so Tracy put on her PC-ZBA hat and I pretended to be interested, asking her about the latest with the annexations in Greenvale and Bridgewater townships as well as the Land Development Code. We introduced the show with lots of fun fluff, natch.

We occasionally blog about non-local issues here on LoGroNo, as we’ve learned that many of our site visitors like to discuss them A) with local people/those they know; and B) in a climate of civility that exists here in part because of our Discussion Guidelines that we enforce.
Over the next few days, I’ll blog about some hot topics that go beyond Northfield: war, climate change, health care and maybe more. Here’s a look back at some of the national and international issues that have drawn interest and the number of comments attached:
LoGroNo (Locally Grown Northfield) traffic for November was both up and down from September, according to Google Analytics:
- 8,547 Absolute Unique Visitors: Previous: 8,334 (+2.56%)
- 18,242 Visits: Previous: 19,222 (-5.10%)
- 37,128 Pageviews: Previous: 41,502 (-10.54%)
That’s our second-highest ever for site visitors, eclipsed only by Nov. 2008 (election year).

Jane Moline stopped my morning office at GBM yesterday and paid for a Locally Grown annual membership with cash. Andrea Een paid for hers in cash, too. I’ve had other…
I’ve put up a bunch of annoying Locally Grown membership ad banners… up top, on the right, and at the top of discussion threads. (Hey, at least they add some color to the boring new theme I’ve installed.)
You can remove the banner ads from your view, become a sidebar blogger, and do a good deed at the same time. Read the Membership FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) and then click and join.
Membership week goal: 25 new members. I’ll keep you posted on the totals here.
Our radio show/podcast guest this week: Nancy Braker, Director of the Carleton Arb (AKA the Carleton College Cowling Arboretum), talking with us about the great things happening with the Arb and some of the challenges. (Guess which is the biggest problem currently: off-leash dogs, invasive species, or overabundance of deer?)
It’s the last day of a warm November and with the weather about to shift, here’s a look at some fall color photos of the Carleton Arb and of downtown Northfield via my camera’s macro lens. While the killer frosts in early October ruined much of the area’s usually spectacular fall color, it made for some interesting close-ups.
